McCourty attended Saint Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, New Jersey, along with his twin brother Jason McCourty.

Devin McCourty was taken by the Patriots in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Rutgers, where he played college football.

McCourty has played for three Super Bowl-winning teams and been selected to the Pro Bowl twice during his time with the Patriots, missing just five games total. McCourty is the postseason player who has started on defense the most.

Following the Boston Marathon bombing, McCourty committed to making charitable contributions of $100 for each tackle and $200 for each interception he made in the 2013 season.

The promise follows one from former Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola, who made a similar promise to pay $100 for catches and $200 for interceptions.
