Shohei is the youngest of three children. His older siblings are Ryuta, who plays amateur baseball in the Japanese Industrial League, and Yuka his sister.
Yuka, his sister, is two years his senior. She began by trying out volleyball. After that, she retired and started a career as a nurse.
