Donald McEachin was an American politician and lawyer who served as the 4th congressional district’s representative in Virginia from 2017 until his death in 2022.

Donald McEachin had three adult children. Details about his children are unknown. Donald McEachin died from complications of cancer on November 28, 2022, at the age of 61.

In 2018, McEachin revealed that he had developed a fistula after completing treatment for colorectal cancer in 2014, losing more than 60 pounds (27 kg) as a result.

Donald McEachin earned a B.S. in political history from American University in 1982. He then went on to the University of Virginia School of Law, where he earned his J.D. in 1986.

After graduating from law school, he began practicing law in Richmond, eventually becoming a partner in his own firm, McEachin and Gee.

McEachin, a Democrat, served in the Virginia House of Delegates twice, from 1996 to 2002 and again from 2006 to 2008.

He served in the Virginia Senate from 2008 to 2017, representing the 9th district, which included Charles City County as well as parts of Henrico County and the city of Richmond.

McEachin ran in 2016 for the open seat in Virginia’s 4th congressional district left by Republican Randy Forbes and won with 57.3% of the vote.
