Dylan Pegues a 17-year-old boy was electrocuted when his car collided with a telephone pole. The incident occurred on Thursday, June 16,  roughly 100 miles southeast of Birmingham, Alabama.

According to local sources, Dylan Pegues, 17, ran off the road, into a ditch, and collided with a telephone pole. Medical personnel suspect, he was electrocuted by a downed power wire when he stepped out of the car, and he went into cardiac arrest.

“When the paramedics got at the scene, he had no pulse or heartbeat,” his mother, Debbie Pegues, wrote on Facebook. “God brought him back thanks to the incredible medical team’s perseverance, although he was without oxygen for a long period.”

He was life-flighted to UAB in Birmingham, according to WRBL, where he was listed in critical condition.

Dylan died despite fighting for his life for several days, according to family friends who spoke to the Opelika-Auburn News.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help cover costs for Dylan’s care and has so far raised nearly $50,000. Dylan was regarded as a “bright soul” who was constantly smiling and laughing on the page.
