Prior to signing a contract in 2011 with Cherbourg of the third division, Mendy first participated in the Le Havre academy.

In his native France, Mendy started his professional life. Mendy was about to retire from football after being fired in 2014 when he finally got a chance with Marseille’s reserves.

Édouard Mendy developed into a regular in the following campaigns at Reims and Rennes.

In September 2020, Mendy signed a reported £22 million contract with Premier League team Chelsea.

In his first season, he became the first African goalkeeper to play for the club’s senior team and kept sixteen Premier League clean sheets while breaking into the starting lineup.
