Elizabeth Warren and her ex-husband, Jim, met as high school debaters when she was 13 and he was 17, according to Elizabeth’s 2014 memoir, A Fighting Chance. In the memoir, Elizabeth Warren described him as “the first boy I’d ever dated—and the first to dump me”(via the Washington Examiner). However, the two reunited during her second year at George Washington University. Jim asked her to marry him when she was only 19 and she said “yes in a nanosecond” because she was “amazed and grateful” he had chosen her.
According to a Boston Globe profile of Jim Warren in 2012, Jim first worked for IBM. Jim Warren was an employee of the company for 25 years, then became a subcontractor for NASA, working first in New Jersey, then in Texas.
According to The Washington Examiner, Jim Warren was brought on to NASA for a specific project called “The Warren Project” to design an algorithm to help NASA make its first genetic comparisons.
