Fabrizio Moretti was born on June 2, 1980, in Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His father Stefano was an Italian nuclear engineer while his mother Ana Moretti hails from Brazil. He was raised with his older brother, Leo Moretti.

Fabrizio Moretti relocated to New York City alongside his family when he was three years old. He went to the Anglo American International School where he met his fellow band members, Nick Valensi and Julian Casablancas. He later studied sculpture at SUNY New Paltz.

Fabrizio Moretti subsequently dropped out to pursue his music career with The Strokes. He has released six studio albums with the band since 2001. Fabrizio Moretti holds a United States citizenship. He speaks English, Portuguese, Italian, and French.

Fabrizio Moretti is presently residing in Brooklyn, New York City. He has been part of the Brazilian-American band Little Joy, as well as the pop collective Machinegum.
