Faf de Klerk does not have any known children of his own as of now, He is also not married at the moment, however, he is in an intimate relationship with his longtime partner Mine Van Niekerk.

Faf de Klerk made his debut in a 21–20 victory over the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein as part of the Lions squad. De Klerk joined the Golden Lions Currie Cup team for the 2016 season.

Faf de Klerk was selected by the then-appointed Springbok coach Allister Coetzee in South Africa’s 31-man squad for their 2016 three-test match series against Ireland. He made his test debut as the starting scrum-half in the opening test at Newlands Stadium as part of South Africa’s 31-man squad.
Faf de Klerk joined English Premiership side Sale Sharks before the 2017–18 season on a three-year contract. He was subsequently selected for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. He was named Player of the Match in the 20 October quarter-final match against Japan.
