Rio Ferdinand has faced criticism from fans on social media after he proposed that Arsenal star Bukayo Saka should be deployed as a left-back for England against Denmark.

Saka played a key role in England’s opening Euro 2024 match, contributing to the winning goal for the Three Lions in their tight victory over Serbia.

However, Ferdinand has suggested that the Arsenal star should be utilized as a left-back due to injuries to other players.

Ferdinand stated, as reported by Arsenal News Channel on X, “Yeah, if Shaw’s not fit, then 100 percent, we’re bang in trouble.

“We would have to put Saka at left-back. I’d play Saka at left-back then I would. If you ain’t got Shaw and you ain’t got Trippier then I would play Saka at left-back. I’d play it where, as soon as we get possession, Saka is a left winger.”

One fan said, “Rio must be high on something.”

Another fan said, “That’s why you are not the coach, man.”

A fan replied, “If Saka gets put at LB against Denmark, I hope England gets pumped because that is absolutely outrageous.”

Another fan typed, “Why is your darling Foden not playing left back? He’s left-footed too.”
