Funke Akindele’s Omo Ghetto Declared Highest – Grossing Nigerian Movie In History

Popular Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele’s movie, Omo Ghetto The Saga, has been announced Nollywood’s highest-grossing movie in Nigeria’s history.

This was contained in a statement released by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEMA). According to them, the film amassed a domestic gross of N468,036,300 after being at number 1 for three consecutive weeks. The movie has broken the four-year record previously held by Kemi Adetiba’s movie, The Wedding party.

Omo Ghetto: The Saga is also known as Omo Ghetto 2 is a 2020 Nigerian trilogy comedy film co-directed by Funke Akindele and JJC Skillz. The film stars Funke Akindele, Nancy Isime and Eniola Badmus in the lead roles.

The film was released to the cinemas on 25th December 2020 and was opened to extremely positive reviews from critics. The film became a box-office success and surpassed the Fate of Alakada as the highest-grossing Nigerian film for the year 2020.
