George DeLeone, a former offensive line coach in the National Football League, has died. At the age of 73, he passed away on March 1, 2022.

DeLeone, who was born in New Haven on May 9, 1948, had been with Bayor since 2017, first as an offensive line coach and later as a consultant.

He coached in the Northeast for the majority of his career, including at his alma institution, UConn, from 2011 to 2013.

For the first two years, DeLeone was the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach before becoming assistant head coach and offensive line coach in 2013.

DeLeone, a Fairfield Prep graduate, began his coaching career in 1970 as an offensive line coach for Southern Connecticut when he helped the Owls win the Eastern Football Conference championship.

In 1976, DeLeone was appointed to head coach, a position he held until 1979 when he moved to the Division I level at Rutgers.

George DeLeone’s death was reported by Baylor without specifying the reason for death. He died in an unknown manner. His family has yet to make an official comment regarding his demise.
