Virginia Halas McCaskey, born on January 5, 1923, is not only the eldest child of George Halas but also a trailblazing figure in the NFL.

Upon her father’s passing in 1983, she assumed the mantle as the principal owner of the Chicago Bears. Her leadership has been instrumental in guiding the team through the decades.

Remarkably, Virginia’s ownership legacy stretches even further. With the passing of Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson in March 2014, she became the oldest owner not just in the NFL but in all major league sports across the United States.

George Halas Jr., affectionately known as “Mugs,” was another key figure in the Bears’ family dynasty.

Born on September 4, 1925, George Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps as a football executive. He attended Loyola University Chicago Quinlan School of Business before joining the Bears’ front office in 1950.

Over the years, George Jr. made his mark within the franchise, serving as treasurer from 1953 and eventually ascending to the position of president in 1963.

He also took on the role of nominal general manager until 1974, even though his father retained the final say on football matters during this period.

George passed away in 1979.
