Canadian actor George R. Robertson, who was best known for his part in Police Academy, has passed away. According to a death notice released by the family, Robertson passed away on January 29 at Toronto, Canada’s Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center in the company of family members.

The family has announced that a memorial service will take place in March. Robertson was 89 years old.

George Ross Robertson was born in Brampton, Ontario, on April 20, 1933. Before making an appearance in 80 movies and TV shows, he began his acting career on the stage. Over the course of his acting career, Robertson made cameos in three Best Picture nominees.

This covers the 1970 films Airport, Norma Rae, and JFK. The actor is most known for playing Dick Cheney in the TV miniseries The Path to 9/11. He has also been on the small screen in The Twilight Zone as a guest. The movies Rosemary’s Baby, The Amateur, Deceived, National Lampoon’s Senior Trip, and Still Mine all featured Robertson.

It would be in the Police Academy film series as Chief (and subsequently Commissioner) Henry Hurst. In the first movie, which was released in 1984, he made his acting debut. For the following five sequels, up until Police Academy 6: City Under Siege in 1989, Robertson returned in the same capacity.
