However, Holt was married and divorced six times in her life. Her first husband was Armenian-American named John Sarkisian whom she remarried 19 years later as her fifth husband and divorced again.

Later, she married actor John Southall, with whom she had her second child, actress Georganne LaPiere.

In the 1980s, Georgia married Michael Madsen. Holt married bank manager Gilbert Hartmann LaPiere in 1961, who legally adopted Cher and Georganne, changing their surnames to LaPiere.

Georgia Holt died on December 10, 2022 at the age of 96. Her death was confirmed by Cher on Twitter.

Her cause of death was not given. However, in September 2022, Cher revealed in a Twitter post that Georgia had been hospitalized with pneumonia and had been suffering from recurring health issues.
