Even though Harry Belden’s Morty closely resembles the original version, the character doesn’t get much screen time in the first episode. The two new lead voice actors for Rick and Morty season 7 were eventually announced in the premiere, but their names aren’t as well-known as some viewers might have anticipated.

Following Justin Roiland’s domestic abuse charge in January 2023, Adult Swim severed its relationship with the Rick and Morty actor. He was replaced on Roiland’s other program, Solar Opposites, by Dan Stevens, a fairly well-known actor who starred in the 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast remake and the 2014 film The Guest. Roiland’s special duties made it more difficult to replace him in Rick and Morty, though.
