It has been revealed that Helen McCrory’s cancer illness was kept hidden from her friends until only days before her death. She began her career on stage, where she received critical acclaim for her performances in Trelawny of the ‘Wells’ and Uncle Vanya.

Helen went on to star in a number of films, including Interview with the Vampire in 1994 and The Queen in 2006, in which she played Cherie Blair.

McCrory and Lewis married in 2007 after falling in love while performing in the off-West End Almeida Theatre’s production of Five Gold Rings in 2003. They have a 14-year-old daughter, Manon, and a 13-year-old son, Gulliver.
