Shaquem Alphonso Griffin is a former linebacker in the National Football League. Shaquem was born with amniotic band syndrome, which caused his left hand’s fingers to not fully develop.

The pain was so intense that at the age of four, he grabbed a butcher knife and planned to sever his hand. His mother took the knife away from him, and his parents scheduled an amputation for the following day.

Griffin was still able to compete in sports without his left hand, including track, baseball, and football, alongside his brother.
Despite having only one hand, the former UCF linebacker was named AAC defensive player of the year in 2016 and a second-team All-American in 2017.
He dominated the NFL combine, performing 20 reps on the bench press with a prosthetic right hand and running a 4.38 40-yard dash, the fastest time by a linebacker since 2013.
