Who Is Rod Laver?

Rod Laver is a former Australian professional tennis player, born on August 9, 1938, in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia.

He had ranked World No. 1 for four years during his time as a tennis player.

Rod is one of the greatest tennis players in the history of tennis. He won the most single titles in history, with a total of 198 singles.

He played well on all of the court surfaces – grass, clay, hard, carpet, and wood.

Rod is an 11-time Grand Slam singles titles winner, and the only player to clinch a Grand Slam on all four major titles in the same year.

Hr also clinched eight Pro Slam titles, including the “pro Grand Slam” in 1967.

Rod has won several awards including the: BBC Sports Personality World Sport Star of the Year, with the Laver Cup tournament and the Rod Laver Arena being named in his honour.

Rod emerged as the first pro tennis player to earn over $1,000,000 career prize money, as far back as 1971.

Rod retired from professional play, at age 38, with a total of 200 singles titles under his belt.
