As a true freshman in 2014, Smith-Schuster received playing time right away. He had four receptions for 123 yards versus Fresno State in the first game of his career. He hauled in six passes for 74 yards and three touchdowns in the game against the Washington State Cougars. With 54 receptions for 724 yards and five touchdowns, Smith-Schuster completed the 2014 campaign. Smith-Schuster played 14 games as a sophomore in 2015, recording a career-high 1,454 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.
