Mitchell James Richmond III is an American former professional basketball player.

Richmond spent his collegiate basketball career with Moberly Area CC from 1984 to 1986 and Kansas State from 1986 to 1988.

In the 1988 NBA draft, Richmond was selected 5th overall by the Golden State Warriors, where he averaged 22 points per game and was named the NBA Rookie of the Year Award in the 1988–89 season.

Following his three-year stints with Golden State, Richmond was traded to Sacramento Kings on November 1, 1991, where he stayed for seven seasons before being traded again to Washington Wizards in May 1998.

In 2001, Richmond signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he played the final year of his career.
