Igor Olegovich Shestyorkin, a goaltender for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League, was born in Russia on December 30, 1995. (NHL). He was taken 118th overall in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Rangers. Shesterkin won the Vezina Award as the league’s top goaltender in his debut 82-game season in 2021–22.

Shesterkin began his career with Krylya Sovetov Moscow before being drafted 43rd overall in the 2012 Kontinental Hockey League Draft by Spartak Moscow. In the 2012-13 season, he made his debut for Spartak at the MHL level, playing for MHK Spartak.

Shesterkin made his professional and KHL debut in the 2013-14 season when he was called up from MHK to fill in for Alexei Ivanov in Spartak’s 5-3 loss to HC Ugra on January 20, 2014. Three days later, he made his debut, allowing two goals in a 3-1 loss to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl on January 23. Shesterkin earned his first win in his eighth appearance, making 33 saves in a 3-0 shutout victory over HC Slovan Bratislava on March 2.
Shesterkin returned to the MHL and posted a 12-7 record in 19 playoff games, with a 1.75 goals-against average, a.937 save percentage, and four shutouts to help MHK Spartak win the MHL Championship.
