Is Amy Schumer related to Chuck Schumer?

Amy Schumer, 40, is an American comedian and actress with notable success on stage and screen. She is best known for starring in the 2015 American film Trainwreck. 

There is also another known Schumer, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer.

There are rare instances where we find personalities in the media or political scenes sharing the same surnames but with no evidence of relations. While some of these cases are merely coincidental at best, this case in point, like some others, is a pleasant exception.

Believe it or not, Amy and Chuck are blood – indeed.

The comedian is cousins with the U.S. Senator. Despite toeing different career paths, both public figures have been supporting each other for several years, especially teaming up against the problem of gun violence following the 2015 Lafayette shooting at Amy’s Trainwreck movie showing. They both held conferences to push for stricter gun control laws in the year, but have since not made any headlines about further collaborations in other respects.

Amy and Chuck are currently known to be on good terms with each other.
