Big Mouth was inspired by Kroll’s and Andrew Goldberg’s childhood experiences. Big Mouth delves into puberty while being candid about the human body and sex.
The series is based on embarrassing real-life stories. According to Kroll, he was a “late bloomer” who was “pantsed” in front of his childhood crush, a real-life event depicted in Big Mouth.
