“Thank you @SHO Billions,” Lewis said on Twitter as he announced his resignation.
“@briankoppelman @DavidLevien, thank you. It was an honor and a joy to play Axe for five seasons with some of the brightest, funniest, and most talented actors and crew I’ve ever worked with. The Billions family will be missed. Some occupations aren’t just jobs at all. Love.”

Following the death of his wife, actress Helen McCrory, in April, Lewis recorded many of his last episodes remotely from England.
Bobby Axelrod escapes to Switzerland in the fifth season finale to avoid legal ramifications from Paul Giamatti’s Attorney General Chuck Rhodes. Mike Prince, played by Corey Stoll in Season 5 of Billions, gives Axe a large buyout and takes control of all of his businesses.
