The defense coach for the France national team is Shaun Edwards, a former rugby league player and English rugby union coach who was born on October 17, 1966. Edwards, a scrum-half or stand-off, holds the record for having won the most championship medals in rugby league history with 37. He led England’s schoolboy teams in both rugby union and rugby league. In addition to stints with the Balmain Tigers, London Broncos, and Bradford Bulls, he played for Wigan in the Championship and Super League from 1983 to 1997.
