Is Steve Novosel Alive?

American jazz bassist and father of late Bernard Wright, Steve Novosel, is still very much alive.

Steve was born in 1940 and is of Croatian-American origin.

His musical career has spanned over 4 decades and cuts across various genres, including traditional jazz, swing, bebop, mainstream, and avant-garde.

Steve began playing the piano as a child and performed traditional Croatian folk songs from an early age as well.

Steve attended high school in New York where he learned more about music. He then proceeded to undertake a 3-year course in advanced trumpet study.

Upon completion, he joined the US Army Band at Ft. Myer, Virginia.

Though left-handed, Steve learned how to play the double bass in a right-hand setup.

Steve went ahead to become a Double Bass instructor at the American University and the University of the District of Columbia.

Now 82 years old, Steve remains a relevant icon in the jazz music sector.
