J. Howard Marshall death: How did J. Howard Marshall die?

On January 24, 1905, J. Howard Marshall II was born in Philadelphia. He attended Yale Law School in 1931 after earning his degree from Haverford College in 1926, where he was reared as a Quaker, according to U.S. News & World Report.

After graduating from Yale, he worked as an associate dean, taught management courses, and wrote on the oil sector.

When Marshall was appointed assistant solicitor at the Department of the Interior, he graduated from Yale in 1933. He created codes governing the petroleum sector in that capacity.

Marshall joined Pillsbury Madison Sutro, the corporation’s outside firm, in 1937 after serving as the president of Standard Oil of California’s special counsel for two years (the company is now known as Chevron).

Marshall assumed the position of Solicitor of the Petroleum Administration for War in 1941, playing a crucial part in the development of energy policy at the time.

He was appointed vice president and chairman of Ashland Oil and Refining Co. three years later, and in 1946 he prepared the draft of the executive order that established the National Petroleum Council.

Marshall passed away in Houston, Texas, on August 4, 1995, from pneumonia at the age of 90.
