In his first victory on the main tour in 18 months, Welsh professional snooker player Jak Jones defeated Joe O’Connor 5-4 to qualify for the Australian Goldfields Open.

However, he was eliminated from the competition after losing to Nigel Bond 5-1 in the following round. Jones defeated world No. 1 Neil Robertson in the Riga Open 4-3 before losing to Sean O’Sullivan, who earned his best career win, 4-3.
He finished the season in 67th place on the Order of Merit after failing to win more than one match at any other competition.

Jones came within one victory of earning a spot in the biggest event on the snooker calendar by defeating Aditya Mehta and Jack Lisowski in the World Championship.

Despite coming back from being 4-0 down to Ryan Day to tie the match at 6-6, Jones lost four in a row and was defeated 10-6. He lost his spot in the top 64 as a result, and at the end of the season, he was rated 95th in the world.
Jones did not participate in any professional contests during the 2015–16 season. However, he won the 2016 EBSA European Championship final against Jamie Clarke 7-4 to secure a two-year main tour card.
He beat Jamie Cope 4-3 at the Riga Masters before losing to Mark Williams 4-0 in the following round. He defeated Brandon Sargeant 4-0, Elliot Slessor 4-3, and Ding Junhui 4-2 in the English Open before startling everyone by winning that match.
