Jeffrey Petry is a professional ice hockey defenseman in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is the son of Dan Petry and Christine Cairns.

His father, Dan Petry, is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who earned a World Series ring as a member of the Detroit Tigers in 1984.
Dan played for the Detroit Tigers (1979-87 and 1990-91), the California Angels (1988-89), the Atlanta Braves (1991), and the Boston Red Sox (1991). His father currently works for Bally Sports Detroit as a studio analyst for the Detroit Tigers.
He worked as a colour analyst for the Detroit Tigers Radio Network in 2012, partnering with play-by-play announcer Dan Dickerson for several road games while regular analyst Jim Price recovered from health issues.

Dan Petry was named a studio analyst for the Detroit Tigers on Bally Sports Detroit on January 15, 2019.

Jeff Petry was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the second round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut against the Buffalo Sabres on December 28, 2010, and recorded his first NHL point, a secondary assist on a goal by Ryan Jones.
Petry and forward Ryan Poehling were traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins on July 16, 2022, in exchange for Mike Matheson and a 2023 fourth-round draft pick.
