He attained a career-high ATP singles rating of No. 30 in August 2013. Chardy reached the quarterfinals of the French Open in 2011 and the Australian Open quarterfinals in 2013.
He has three ATP Tour singles titles. He also played for France in the Davis Cup, where he helped them win the competition in 2017.
