The Continental Wrestling Association was founded by Jarrett in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1977. In 1989, Jarrett joined his business with World Class Championship Wrestling, which had its corporate office in Dallas, Texas. This resulted in the creation of the United States Wrestling Association.

Lawler purchased the company from Jarrett in 1997. He co-founded NWA:TNA in 2002 with his son Jeff Jarrett, marking his second foray into promotion. He sold Panda Energy International his majority share later that year.

The late Jeff Jarrett’s father, the esteemed wrestling promoter, has passed away. It is unknown what caused his death. The information is still coming in slowly.

Dutch Mantell and the Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame both made announcements.

“Sad to inform that the inventor of Memphis Wrestling as we all know it and Memphis Wrestling Legend JERRY JARRETT passed away today,” the Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame stated.
