Joel Kinnman Illness: Did Joel Kinnman undergo surgery?

Swedish-American actor, Joel Kinnaman has been living with a health condition since he was a child. According to sources, he grew up with the condition of pectus excavatum, with a caved-in appearance of the chest.

It was reported that he underwent surgery before the filming of Altered Carbon. During the surgery, it was reported that two metal bars were inserted to push the sternum outward in order to correct the deformity.

He began his career as a child actor in a Swedish opera dubbed Storstad (1990). He was in the show for 22 episodes but stopped acting for over a decade.

In 2002, he came into the movie industry again while he was studying at a drama school. He featured in several films including Hannah Med H, God Save the King (Tjenare kungen). 

Kinnaman made an international film debut in the United States when he starred in the thriller film The Darkest Hour, with the help of an American agent he hired to help extend his career. The movie was released in June 2010 in Moscow and December 2011 in other countries.
