Mourinho, currently managing Roma, has left an indelible mark on top-flight football, with an impressive managerial resume that includes three English Premier League titles, two UEFA Champions League triumphs, a LaLiga title, and four League Cups, among numerous other accolades.

Surprisingly, no players from Manchester United, Tottenham, or Roma made the cut in Mourinho’s dream XI. The formation adopted for the dream team is a classic 4-3-3.

In goal, Mourinho opted for Chelsea icon Petr Cech over legendary Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, with whom he worked during his time in Spain. The defensive lineup comprises former Chelsea stalwarts William Gallas, John Terry, and Ricardo Carvalho, with Inter Milan legend Javier Zanetti anchoring the right-back position.

The midfield trio is a Chelsea-dominated affair, featuring Claude Makelele in the defensive role, while Frank Lampard and Mesut Ozil complete the midfield ensemble. Lampard, an England and Chelsea legend, enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Mourinho during their time together at Stamford Bridge.

In attack, Mourinho elected to go with Didier Drogba, the towering Ivorian who excelled under the Portuguese manager during two spells at Chelsea. Flanking Drogba are two formidable wingers who also thrived under Mourinho’s tutelage: Cristiano Ronaldo and Eden Hazard, representing Real Madrid and Chelsea, respectively.

The exclusion of certain players, such as Sergio Ramos, adds an intriguing element to Mourinho’s selection, emphasizing the personal and professional connections that shaped his coaching journey.

Mourinho’s dream team provides a fascinating insight into the players who left an indelible mark on the renowned manager throughout his storied career. The full episode of the Obi One Podcast featuring Mourinho’s insights is set to air on Monday, December 18.
