Julie Powell Husband: Who Is Eric Powell?

Eric Powell was the husband of Julie Powell, a food blogger best known for her cooking memoir, Julie & Julia, which inspired a film starring Meryl Streep.

Eric, an editor for the magazine Archaeology and Julie got married in 1998 and stayed married until Julie’s death on Oct. 26, 2022 at age 49.

Julie’s death was confirmed by her husband who revealed the cause was cardiac arrest.

Eric’s late wife was born Julie Foster on April 20, 1973 and was best known for her 2005 book Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen which was based on her blog, the Julie/Julia Project.

A film adaptation based on her book called Julie & Julia was released in 2009.

Her second book, Cleaving: a Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession, was published in 2009.

• The book detailed the experiences she had while learning to butcher at Fleisher’s butcher shop in Kingston, New York, and the effects of affairs by both her and her husband on their marriage.
• It was published on November 30, 2009.

Her publisher, Judy Clain, the editor-in-chief of Little, Brown and Co, paid tribute to Powell, writing:

“Julie & Julia became an instant classic and it is with gratitude for her unique voice that we will now remember Julie’s dazzling brilliance and originality.”
