Meet Yemuş Kılıçdaroğlu and Kamer Kılıçdaroğlu

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s parents, Yemuş and Kamer Kılıçdaroğlu were Kurdish Alevi farmers who lived in a small village in eastern Turkey. Kılıçdaroğlu’s father passed away when he was very young, leaving his mother to raise him and his siblings on her own.

Kamer Kılıçdaroğlu was a strong and resilient woman who managed to provide for her family through her hard work as a farmer. She instilled in her children the values of education and hard work, which later helped Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu become a successful politician. Despite the challenges they faced, the Kılıçdaroğlu family remained close-knit and supportive of each other.
