Kevin Sinfield is the England national rugby union team’s defense coach. Sinfield is a former professional rugby league footballer, captain, and Leeds Rhinos director of rugby. Sinfield also represented England and the United Kingdom. Sinfield’s primary position was loose forward, but he also played stand-off and hooker on occasion. Sinfield is widely regarded as one of the greatest rugby league kickers of all time.

Sinfield began his career at Waterhead A.R.L.F.C., a club that also produced Barrie McDermott, Paul Sculthorpe, Danny Sculthorpe, Paul Highton, Lee Jewitt, Marc Sneyd, and Gareth Owen. In August 1997, Sinfield signed with Leeds RLFC.

Sinfield made his Leeds debut against the Sheffield Eagles when he was 16 years old. Sinfield made three more appearances in 1997 and 1998, scoring his first try against the Huddersfield Giants in September 1998. Sinfield was a stand-off for Leeds in the 2005 Challenge Cup Final, scoring four goals in their loss to Hull F.C. but winning the Lance Todd Trophy as man of the match.
