American Keyontae Johnson plays college basketball for the Florida Gators of the Southeastern Conference. Johnson was born and reared in Norfolk, Virginia. Until his junior year, he attended Norview High School before transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Vince Walden, his head coach, transferred to Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia for his senior year after leaving the school to work as an assistant coach at Arkansas State.

In the Nike EYBL championship game at Peach Jam, Johnson scored 12.9 points and grabbed 7.6 rebounds per game.
As a senior for Oak Hill, he participated in 19 games with at least 18 points.

On Senior Day against Kentucky on March 5, 2022, Johnson was introduced as the honorary starter and received a standing ovation. He joined the transfer portal on May 1. He made his Kansas State commitment on August 20, 2022.
