The release of her album “Mistaken Identity” the following year contributed to Kim Carnes’ increased notoriety. The album contained “Bette Davis Eyes,” which went on to become the best-selling single of the year in the US.

It was awarded Gold status, spent an amazing nine weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, and took home the Record of the Year and Song of the Year Grammy Awards. Additionally, “Mistaken Identity” was platinum-certified, reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and received a Grammy Award nomination for Album of the Year.

The chart-topping singles “Draw of the Cards” (No. 28), “Does It Make You Remember” (No. 36), “Crazy in the Night (Barking at Airplanes)” (No. 15), and “Make No Mistake, He’s Mine” (No. 51), which Carnes co-wrote with Barbra Streisand, are just a few of the notable songs that Carnes also enjoyed success with throughout her career.

She also had success with singles that were nominated for Grammy Awards, including “What About Me?” (No. 15), “I’ll Be Here Where the Heart Is” from the “Flashdance” soundtrack, “Voyeur” (No. 29), and “Invisible Hands” (No. 40).
The No. 1 duet “The Heart Won’t Lie” was written by Carnes and Donna Weiss, showcasing both of her songwriting talents in addition to her own performances.
Kim Carnes Children: Meet Collin Ellingson
Carnes resides in Nashville with her husband Dave Ellingson (1967–present). Her two children are named Ry and Collin. On the song “Rough Edges” from her album Barking at Airplanes, she collaborates vocally with Ry, who shares the same name as the guitarist Ry Cooder.
While this is going on, Collin appears on the record and introduces the song “Crazy in the Night”. In addition to “Divided Hearts,” “Gypsy Honeymoon,” “Don’t Cry Now,” and “River of Memories,” Collin and his mother also co-wrote a number of additional songs.
