He married actress/academic Catherine Rabett in 1986, and they have two children, Augusta and Rollo.
Sarah Sands, a former editor of the London Evening Standard and the Today program on BBC Radio 4, is his sister. He had homes in both Norfolk and Cornwall.
Hesketh-Harvey died abruptly on February 1, 2023, at the age of 65, it was stated.
