Koji Sato’s journey is one of an extraordinary rise from a mechanical engineering graduate to the helm of Toyota Motor Corporation, one of the most influential names in the automotive industry.

Sato embarked on his career in April 1992, fresh from his mechanical engineering degree from Waseda University.

He started at Toyota in the Technology Administration Division, but it was in product development where he left an indelible mark.

Sato’s leadership played a pivotal role in the pioneering suspension design for the first-generation Prius and Vista sedan.

In 2003, he spearheaded the development of the North American Camry sedan.

Transitioning to Lexus in 2006 marked his foray into the luxury segment, where he excelled as the Assistant Chief Engineer on the GS sedan.
