He and his wife Julie Neale have a daughter together. The couple became parents in September 2021, welcoming daughter, Piper Rose Neale.

Lachie Neale began his AFL career with the Fremantle Dockers in 2012 before joining the Brisbane Lions in a trade deal ahead of the 2019 season.

In 2019, Neale excelled at his new club, being named to the All-Australian squad for the first time, winning his first Merrett-Murray Medal, and finishing equal-third in the Brownlow Medal with 26 votes.
Neale made a strong start to the 2020 season, with ABC’s Dean Bilton naming him the top player in the league before to round 6.
Neale received 31 votes during the truncated regular season, including best-on-ground in eleven matches, to win the 2020 Brownlow Medal.
Neale was selected Lions co-captain alongside Harris Andrews on March 1, 2023. Later that year, Lachie Neale won his second Brownlow Medal, this time with 31 votes.
