Larry Mahan wife: Who is Julanne Mahan?

Julanne Mahan was the wife of Larry Mahan, one of the best cowboys in ProRodeo history. Julanne was his third wife, and he was still married to her when he died.

They met in February 2009, while Larry was going through his third divorce and attending a Cowboys for Christ event in Ada, Oklahoma.

Julanne, a thin, attractive, and whip-smart local rancher, galloped up to Larry on his horse and said:

“I hear they’re going to auction your ass off today. What do you think it’s worth?”

She didn’t bid on him for a day of riding that night, but he invited her to supper. They married on his birthday in November of that year, thus November 21, 2009.

Larry joked that they married on his birthday so she wouldn’t forget his birthday.

Larry described Julanne and her influence on his life as follows:

“She’s a hand. She’s one of a kind. She’s a great rider and totally knowledgeable of horses and cattle. She’s keeping me organized. That’s a 24/7 deal.”

Julanne was quite supportive after he was diagnosed with cancer following a bone narrow biopsy in 2021.

Larry’s cancer was discovered before it advanced to leukemia, and the cancer was in remission as of May 2022.

Larry Mahan died at the age of 79 on May 7, 2023. At the time of his death, he was living in Valley View, Texas.
