He was the beating heart of our Corps of Drums and was larger than life. He was a genuine warrior who fought with distinction in Afghanistan, Germany, and Cyprus as a side drummer and machine gunner.

On May 22, 2013, Lee, a 25-year-old Fusilier from Langley in Middleton, was mercilessly killed within 200 yards of his army barracks in Woolwich.

Lee Rigby Injury

Lee James Rigby, 25, a machine-gunner and drummer in the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was the soldier killed in the attack.

Following the funeral, his body was transported through streets packed with mourners to Middleton Cemetery for a private burial.
