Drummer Lee Rigby, also known as “Riggers” to his pals, was born in Crumpsall, Manchester, in July 1987.

He enlisted in the Army in 2006, and after successfully completing his infantry training at the Infantry Training Centre Catterick, he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, also known as the “Second Fusiliers” or “2 RRF,” and chosen to be a member of the Corps of Drums.
His first assignment was in Cyprus as a machine gunner, when the unit was occupying Dhekelia as the local infantry battalion.

He worked on a variety of projects while in Cyprus before returning to the UK and moving to Hounslow, West London, in the early months of 2008.
In keeping with the battalion’s dedication to public responsibilities, Drummer Rigby stood erect in front of the royal palaces in this instance.
