Leonard Nimoy, an American actor best known for his nearly 50-year role as Spock in the Star Trek series, was born on March 26, 1931, and passed away on February 27, 2015. Included in this are the first six Star Trek motion pictures, Star Trek: The Animated Series, the first Star Trek television series, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Spock was created for the first Star Trek television series in 1966.

In addition to acting in various movies, TV shows, and video games, Nimoy also directed several movies, such as Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986). Nimoy was a director of photography, novelist, singer, and songwriter in addition to being an actor.
Early in his twenties, Nimoy started his acting career. He taught acting workshops in Hollywood and made a few cameos in films and television shows through the 1950s.
