She is known for her role on the variety show Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In from 1969 to 1973.

Raised in Detroit, Michigan, she received her high school education at Cass Technical High School. After completion in 1957, Tomlin proceed to Wayne State University.

She started her career as a stand-up comedian as well as performing off-Broadway during the 1960s.

Tomlin first appeared on television in 1965 on The Merv Griffin Show and a year later became a cast member on the short-lived third and final incarnation of The Garry Moore Show.

She has then appeared in many movies and tv shows including Grace and Frankie, 9 to 5, 80 for Brady, The Magic School Bus, Grandma, Big Business, Moving On, All of Me, The Incredible Shrinking Woman, The Beverly Hillbillies, The West Wing, and more.
