Paul Mackenzie Crook is an English actor, comedian, director and writer.

Raised in Dartford, Kent, Crook attended Wilmington Grammar School for Boys. In the summers, he spent time at his uncle’s tobacco farm in northern Zimbabwe, where he developed his love for painting.
At age 18, Crook failed to secure a place at an art college and turned to write comedy sketches. Crook ended up working at Pizza Hut, and at hospitals.
In 1996, he made his film debut in The Man Who Fell in Love with a Traffic Cone (1996). He subsequently made his debut on television as a stand-up comedian on The 11 O’Clock Show (1998), then worked on other TV shows playing grotesques and exaggerated characters.
Mackenzie Crook rose to fame as Gareth Keenan, in a TV hit comedy, The Office (2001), and earned himself a British Comedy Award nomination.
