Marcus Earl Stroman was born May 1, 1991, in Medford, New York, the United States to Earl Stroman and Adlin Auffant. However, his parents got divorced when he was in the 5th grade.
Marcus Stroman’s mother is Puerto Rican while his father is a police detective in Suffolk County, New York. He was raised alongside a brother, Jayden, and a sister named Sabria. He has a cousin, Erskine Kelley who played minor league baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs organizations.
Marcus Stroman attended Patchogue-Medford High School in Medford. He was drafted in the 18th round of the 2009 MLB draft (532nd overall) by the Washington Nationals but opted to enter Duke University instead, where he played college baseball for the Duke Blue Devils baseball team.
Marcus Stroman graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology on May 15, 2016. He was drafted by the Jays 22nd overall, and became the first Duke player ever selected in the first round and made his MLB debut with the Blue Jays in 2014.
Marcus Stroman has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets. He was the World Baseball Classic MVP in 2017.
