In the world of mainstream sports media, Mark Madden has had a varied career. He received his degree from Duquesne University in 1982 and is a brother of Tau Kappa Epsilon, an international fraternity.

He spent fifteen years working for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, largely covering high school sports for the suburban sections of the paper. Madden also contributed to the now-defunct Penguins Report as well as the weekly Pittsburgh City Paper. On WTAE-TV’s Action Sports Sunday, he appeared as a featured guest.
In 2006, The Post-Gazette reported that Madden had lost his job as a guest sports analyst on the Sunday night sports show on WTAE-TV. In order to present a nightly, nationally televised sports conversation program, he joined WPNT in 2015.

Madden commonly refers to himself as the “Super Genius” on his shows and social media because of his 166 IQ score, which was discovered when he was tested in the fourth grade.
The Beaver County Times published a weekly feature by Madden titled “Monday Madden” starting in May 2007. He continued to write the column for more than ten years before deciding to work for TribLive in 2018.
In May 2008, Madden was fired from his position as anchor of a talk program on Pittsburgh’s 1250 ESPN radio station after making a divisive comment about Senator Ted Kennedy’s health. Regarding Kennedy’s health, Madden expressed his displeasure and uttered a derogatory comment.
