Markus Josef Lanz is an Italian-German television host and producer (born March 16, 1969 in Bruneck, South Tyrol, Italy). Markus Lanz has been moderating Markus Lanz’s Talkshow on the ZDF since 2008.

Markus Lanz was born in Bruneck as the son of transport operator Josef Lanz and his wife Anna. Markus Lanz was raised in Geiselsberg, South Tyrol (a division of the community of Olang).

Markus Lanz was 14 years old when his father, who had been 52 years old, passed away from leukemia. He was a gymnast who resided in the Kloster Neustift student residence. He attended Brixen’s Klassische Gymnasium at Vinzentinum from 1983 to 1984 during this time.
